Terms of Service

Last updated: October 3, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to your use of happytailsacademy.com and everything offered on it, including our online courses, the free Puppy Guide, and the AI Training Assistant (together, the "Services"). Happy Tails Dog Academy ("Happy Tails", "we", "us") is a business based in the United States. By creating an account, buying a course, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Who can use the Services

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account or buy a course. You are responsible for keeping your password private and for everything that happens under your account. Please give us accurate information, including your real name and an email address you check.

2. Courses and access

When you buy a course, you get a personal, non-transferable license to use it for your own dog training. Lessons open one day at a time after purchase. Once you have reached the end of a course, you may download the full course PDF for your personal use. Your access to the lessons you bought does not expire as long as the Services are operating and your account is in good standing.

The free Puppy Guide is available to anyone with a free account. We may change, add to, or end free offers at any time.

3. Prices and payment

Prices are shown at checkout in US dollars or Mexican pesos, depending on where you are buying from. Courses are a one-time payment, not a subscription. Payments are processed securely by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. Your bank may charge its own fees, such as currency conversion fees. We may change prices for future purchases at any time, but a price change never affects a course you already bought.

4. Refunds

You can request a full refund within 3 days of purchase. See our Refund Policy for details.

5. AI Training Assistant

The AI Training Assistant is an automated tool powered by artificial intelligence. It answers questions based on the course material, but it can make mistakes and it is not a dog trainer, a veterinarian, or a behaviorist. Always use your own judgment, and contact a qualified professional for anything involving your dog's health, injuries, aggression, or safety.

Paying students can use the assistant for 30 days from the date of purchase, with a daily question limit. Visitors and free accounts get a small number of questions per day. We may change these limits at any time. Please do not enter sensitive personal information into the chat, and do not use it for anything unlawful or abusive.

6. Our content

All course lessons, PDFs, videos, text, images, the Happy Tails name and logo, and the Happy Tails Academy method materials belong to Happy Tails Dog Academy and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may not copy, share, resell, upload, publish, or distribute any course content, or share your account login, without our written permission. If we find that course content or an account is being shared, we may close the account without a refund.

7. Reviews

If you submit a review, you confirm it reflects your honest experience, and you give us permission to display it on our website and marketing, in its original language or translated (translations are marked as such). We may choose not to publish a review, but we never edit what a review says.

8. Training results and safety

Dog training results depend on your dog, your environment, and your consistency, so we cannot guarantee specific results. You are responsible for your dog's behavior and safety, and for the safety of people and animals around you, at all times. Please read our Training Disclaimer before starting any course.

9. Assumption of risk

Working with dogs involves inherent risks, including bites, scratches, falls, leash injuries, and dogs escaping or reacting unpredictably, even when every instruction is followed. By using the Services, you understand and voluntarily accept these risks for yourself, your dog, and anyone you allow to train or handle your dog using our material.

10. No warranties

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we make no promises or warranties of any kind about the Services, express or implied, including that the content is error-free, that the site will always be available, or that the Services will produce a particular result. Using the Services does not create a trainer-client, veterinary, or other professional relationship between you and Happy Tails.

11. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless Happy Tails Dog Academy and its owner from any claims, damages, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) brought by anyone else that arise from your dog's behavior, your use of the Services, or your breaking these Terms.

12. Limitation of liability

The Services are provided "as is". To the fullest extent allowed by law, Happy Tails Dog Academy is not liable for any injury, damage, or loss to you, your dog, other people, other animals, or property that results from using the Services or applying any technique from them. To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim related to the Services is limited to the amount you paid us for the course the claim relates to. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

13. Ending your account

You may stop using the Services at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing us. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will let account holders know by email. Continuing to use the Services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where Happy Tails Dog Academy is based. Nothing in these Terms takes away consumer rights you have under the laws of the country where you live.

16. Other terms

If any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in full effect. If we do not enforce a part of these Terms right away, we can still enforce it later. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Training Disclaimer, are the entire agreement between you and Happy Tails about the Services. We are not responsible for delays or outages caused by things outside our reasonable control.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Happy Tails Dog Academy ("we", "us") collects through happytailsacademy.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. For visitors and students in Mexico, this policy also serves as our Privacy Notice (Aviso de Privacidad).

1. Who is responsible for your information

Happy Tails Dog Academy, a business based in the United States, is responsible for your personal information. You can reach us at academyhappytails@gmail.com.

2. What we collect
  • Account information: your name, email address, and password (passwords are stored encrypted; we cannot see them).
  • Purchase information: which courses you bought, the date, and the amount. Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number.
  • Course progress: which lessons you have opened, so we can unlock each new day.
  • AI Training Assistant questions: the questions you type into the assistant and its answers. We do not save chat conversations in our database. We keep a temporary count of questions per account or per visitor (using a small cookie and your IP address) to apply daily limits, and that count resets every day.
  • Reviews: if you leave a course review, its text, rating, and your first name.
  • Waitlist: if you ask us to tell you when a course launches, your email address, the course, and your language. We use it only to tell you about that course, and you can ask us to remove you at any time.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email.
  • Technical information: basic server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) used to keep the site secure and working.
3. Cookies

We only use cookies that the site needs to work: cookies that keep you logged in, a cookie that remembers your language (English or Spanish), and a cookie used to apply the assistant's daily question limit for visitors. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If we add analytics or advertising tools in the future, we will update this policy first.

4. How we use your information
  • To create and manage your account and give you access to the courses you bought.
  • To process payments and refunds.
  • To answer your questions in the AI Training Assistant and by email.
  • To send you emails about your account, such as sign-up confirmation, password resets, and purchase receipts, in your language.
  • To send occasional news or offers, only if you have agreed to receive them. Every marketing email includes a link to unsubscribe.
  • To keep the site secure, prevent abuse and account sharing, and meet our legal and tax obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

5. Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers we need to run the site, and only for that purpose:

  • Stripe, to process payments.
  • Supabase, to securely store accounts and course access.
  • Anthropic, which provides the AI model behind the AI Training Assistant. The questions you type are sent to Anthropic to generate an answer.
  • Our hosting and email providers, to run the website and send emails.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

6. International transfers

Our business and service providers are located in the United States. If you use the Services from Mexico or another country, your information will be transferred to and stored in the United States. By using the Services, you agree to this transfer.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account is open. Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize your information unless we are required to keep it.

8. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to object to a specific use of it, or to stop receiving marketing emails. In Mexico these are known as your ARCO rights (Access, Rectification, Cancellation, and Opposition). To make a request, email us at academyhappytails@gmail.com with your name, the email on your account, and what you are asking for. We will reply within 20 business days.

9. Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and encrypted password storage. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

10. Children

The Services are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page, and we will notify account holders by email about significant changes.

Refund Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

We want you to feel confident buying a Happy Tails course. If it is not right for you, you can get your money back within the first 3 days.

3-day refund

You can request a full refund within 3 days (72 hours) of your purchase, for any reason. No questions asked.

How to request a refund

Email us at academyhappytails@gmail.com from the email address on your account, with the subject "Refund", and tell us which course you bought. We will confirm and process your refund within 5 business days.

What happens next
  • The refund goes back to the same card you paid with, in the same currency.
  • Depending on your bank, it can take 5 to 10 business days to appear on your statement.
  • Your access to that course and to the AI Training Assistant ends when the refund is processed. Your free account and the free Puppy Guide stay available.
  • We cannot refund any fees your bank charged, such as currency conversion fees.
After 3 days

Because lessons are digital and open right away, purchases are not refundable after 3 days, except where the law requires otherwise. If you were charged twice by mistake, or something is not working on our side, please contact us any time and we will make it right.

Before disputing a charge

If you have any problem with a payment, please email us first. We answer quickly and will always try to solve it. Opening a dispute with your bank instead may suspend your account while the dispute is reviewed.

Training Disclaimer

Last updated: October 3, 2026

Please read this before starting any Happy Tails course, guide, or using the AI Training Assistant.

Educational content

Our courses, the Puppy Guide, our blog, and the AI Training Assistant are for educational purposes. They share general training methods and are not personalized advice for your specific dog. They do not replace in-person guidance from a qualified dog trainer, behavior consultant, or veterinarian who can see your dog. Happy Tails does not provide in-person training or support.

Results are not guaranteed

Every dog is different. Results depend on your dog's age, breed, health, history, temperament, and environment, and on how consistently you practice. We cannot promise specific results or a specific timeline, and no course can guarantee that a dog will behave perfectly in every situation.

Your dog's health

Check with your veterinarian before starting training, especially if your dog is a young puppy, a senior, overweight, or has any health or mobility issue. Sudden behavior changes can have medical causes, so please see a vet if your dog's behavior changes without a clear reason. Use treats in reasonable amounts and avoid any foods that are unsafe for dogs.

Aggression, fear, and reactivity

If your dog has bitten, shows aggression, or shows strong fear or reactivity toward people or other animals, please work with a qualified professional in person. Do not put yourself, your family, other people, or other animals at risk while practicing.

Safety while training
  • Practice in safe, appropriate places. Follow local leash laws and the rules of any public place you visit.
  • When using a long line, use an open area away from traffic and obstacles, and keep the line managed so it does not tangle or catch on people, your dog, or objects. Never wrap a leash or line around your hand.
  • Keep your dog on a leash or long line in unsecured areas until their recall is reliable.
  • Always supervise your dog, especially around children and other animals.
  • Use well-fitted equipment as described in the course, and stop any exercise if your dog seems stressed, in pain, or overwhelmed.
Your responsibility

You are always responsible for your dog's behavior and for the safety of your dog, yourself, and others. By using our courses and tools, you agree that you apply any technique at your own risk, and that Happy Tails Dog Academy is not responsible for any injury, damage, or loss that may result, to the fullest extent allowed by law.

AI Training Assistant

The assistant is an AI tool. It answers based on the course material, but it can be wrong or miss important details about your situation. It is not a vet or a trainer. When in doubt, or if anyone's safety is involved, contact a qualified professional.
